Determined to have a flamboyant wedding, Mohammed Gali Mustapha, orchestrated the attempted kidnap for ransom of his three years of niece, Zainab Aliyu, in Katsina State.
The Command’s spokesman, Gmabo Isah said: “On the January 29, based on credible intelligence, the Command succeeded in arresting a 22 years old suspected kidnapper, Mohammed Gali Mustapha. The fact of the case was that on January 25, the suspect met his friend, Nasibi Iliyasu, 22, at Ajiwa Market, with a proposal to assist him with a place where he could hide the daughter of his brother, one Zainab Aliyu. The girl is three years old, whom he intended to kidnap and demand for a ransom. According to him, his plan was to use the ransom money to make his forthcoming wedding elaborate. However, the man he went to ask assistance to help him with accommodation or place to hide the child pending when her father pays ransom, turned down the request and later reported the matter to the police. In the course of investigation and interrogation, the suspect admitted planning to abduct the child.”
