Flood: Life returns to communities as family battles crocodiles

The Obodoukwu family of Ofagbe community in Isoko North of Delta State was, at the weekend, confronted with a big crocodile on their return from “exile” at Oleh camp following the recession of flood in the state.
The family like many  others, who ignored the state government’s plea that flood victims should  stay away until the flooded communities were fumigated and cleaned up, had a hectic time wrestling with the  reptile.
At the end, the crocodile and snakes found in the house were all killed with the assistance of neighbours, some of who had started renovating their houses.
While some members of the community were  tidying up their environment, school children were seen playing football at the primary school in the area.
As it is in Ofagbe, the people of Ivrogobo, Avaira and Uzere complained of the invasion of reptiles and mosquitoes after the flood.
A member of the committee set up to manage the Federal Government’s grant of N500 million and the resettlement of the victims, Dame Florence Ehinlaiye, after an assessment tour of the committee in the area, however, told the Nigerian Tribune that the grant was not enough to carry out the committee’s mandate.
Flood, in the state, has receded to some extent.
