NECO releases Nov/Dec 2012 results

THE National Examinations Council (NECO) has released results of the November/December 2012 Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations (SSCE).
The Registrar/Chief Executive of the council, Professor Promise Okpala, at a media parley held at the conference hall of the organisation’s headquarters, in Minna, Niger State, on Thursday, said about 33.89 per cent of the 75,623 candidates that sat for English Language passed at credit level, while 54.79 per cent of the 75,245 candidates that sat for Mathematics also passed at credit level.
The results showed improvement, compared to less than 15 per cent candidates that passed the examinations four years ago.
Okpala further said that 22.84 per cent of the 72,887 candidates that sat for Biology passed at credit level, just as 30.17 per cent of the 35,194 candidates that sat for Chemistry passed at credit level.
Nigerian Tribune observed that only about 13 per cent of the candidates that sat for both Christian and Islamic religious knowledge passed at credit level.
According to the released results, 21,274 cases of examination malpractices were recorded, with Taraba State accounting for 18.82 per cent, while Imo State followed with 15.56 per cent and Jigawa State, 14.61 per cent.
According to Professor Okpala, Osun State recorded the least cases of examination malpractices with 0.21 per cent.
