Young Police Officers across the entire nation’s commands and formations have begun a strategic leadership course at the Police Staff College, Jos, Plateau State.

The Commandant of the College and Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Donald N. Awunah, inaugurated the course participants of “Operational Leadership Command Course 7/2021” on Monday.

The colourful ceremony witnessed young Officers, drawn from various police commands and formations across the country. The training is a journey to enhance their operational competences and avail them with modern techniques in dealing with present day security challenges.

Awunah, himself a seasoned Police Officer with both administrative and operational capabilities, welcomed the young officers with words of encouragement.

As part of his address, he encouraged participants to take advantage of the programme as their cadre represented a critical link in the realisation of the tenets of policing in accordance with the best practices as envisioned by the present leadership of the Force, under the command of the Inspector-General-of-Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba.

Awunah reminded the course participants that discipline was the bedrock of the Force and that they were therefore expected to be exemplary in their conducts, while the course lasts.

On that note, the Operational Leadership and Command Course 7/2021 were declared open.
