A house help is now being quizzed by detectives at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Panti, Yaba, Lagos State for allegedly conniving with suspected armed robbers to steal her mistress jewelries worth N2million and foreign currency valued at over N200, 000.
The house help, identified as Mary Francis, was said to have connived with one Igwu Ogana Matthew, John and Peter whose surnames are yet unknown to dispossess the woman of jewelries, cash and other valuables.
Mary who was said to have met the duo of Matthew, John and Peter at Sagamu Motor Park sometimes last year, was said to have given a detailed information about the in and out of her boss, Mrs. Jane Ashimi. Mary also gave them information about the house to aid their entry into the building.
Mary who was supposed to have locked the gate when her boss came back from work, intentionally left the gate opened, allowing her culprits easy entrance into the house.
Immediately the suspected armed robbers got into the apartment, they allegedly went straight into Jane’s bedroom, tied her and ransacked the whole apartment.
Among the items stolen from the victim’s apartment include 1 Honda Civic Saloon Car, 1 laptop computer, jewelries, five assorted handsets, and a sum of 3,000 U.S dollars.
Mary however said that she did not plan the robbery with the men, whom she explained were her village people.
According to her, one of the men, Mathew was the person who planned the whole robbery. She said that when she told him that she would not partake in such a crime against her madam, Mathew threatened to kill her.
Mathew on the other hand, said that it was Mary who brought the idea, but he was the person who brought the third guy, John. It was John who went with him on the fateful night of the robbery to Jane’s home with a toy gun.
The case is however still under investigation to get the other parties involved in the crime.
