JUSTICE Adeniyi Onigbanjo of
a Lagos High Court sitting in Ikeja has set free two pharmacists charged
alongside other defendants who were docked for killing Cynthia Osokogu Udoka
before the magistrates’ court, based on a court order.
The release of the pharmacists, Orji
Osita and Maduakor Chukwunonso, from detention, was sequel to a ruling by
Justice Onigbanjo, who ordered their release based on a motion filed before the
duo on the strength of an advice by the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP),
dated November 1.
The release came ahead the formal
arraignment of those found culpable for killing of Cynthia before the state
High Court.
Based on the DPP’s advice, two other
suspects, Gideon Okechukwu and Ezeaka Chinonso, were also declared not culpable
of the offences of murder, conspiracy to murder and conspiracy to commit felony
to wit stealing proffered against them before the lower court.
The DPP, however, found the main
alleged perpetrators, Okwumo Eche-zona Nwabufo and Ezike Ikechukwu Olisaeloka,
culpable of the offences of murder, while Ezike Nonso Ifechukwu was found
culpable of receiving stolen property.
