Detectives attached to the Mushin Police Station, Lagos State, have arrested Mr. Owolabi Fasasi for allegedly pushing Taiwo Adekoya to the ground, and thereby causing her death.

According to eye witnesses, the deceased came to broker peace between Fasasi and his estranged lover, Anuoluwapo Adeyemi, who were fighting over ownership of their three months old daughter, Kausarat Owolabi, when she was pushed.
Fasasi was alleged to have come from his home to Adeyemi’s on May 1, screaming that he came to take his baby.
Fasasi allegedly refused to explain why he wanted to take the baby away, and when people tried to pacify him, he grew violent. In the process, he pushed Adekoya, who was among those that came to pacify him. The woman fell down and because unconscious. She was rushed to hospital and confirmed dead. The deceased, incidentally, was the boss of Adeyemi.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Bala Elkana said that the matter was reported at Mushin Police Station on May 2, by Adeyemi.
Elkana added: “Anuoluwapo Adeyemi, living at Itire Road, Mushin, reported at Mushin Police Station that on May 1, while having a discussion with her husband, Owolabi Fasasi, who came visiting, as they live apart, he started threatening to go away with their three months old baby, Kausarat Owolabi. He did not explain why he wanted to take the baby away. People around made frantic efforts to pacify him but he refused. He kept on shouting and threatening violence, insisting on taking the baby away. Tragedy occurred when he was dragging the baby to actualise his threat. He pushed the boss of the child’s mother, Taiwo Adekoya, who was one of the peace makers and she became unconscious. The victim was rushed to hospital, but was later confirmed dead. The corpse has been deposited at the mortuary for autopsy and the suspect arrested.”
Similarly, the Police also arrested a spiritualist over the death of a woman, who died during childbirth in a church.
The matter was reported on May 4, at Oke-Odo Police Station by Olaloye Jolayemi, residing at Ologundudu Street, Aboru.
Jolayemi explained that Seun Olorunto, 39, died after she was delivered of a baby boy by Prophetess Evelyn Owoleke, at a Cherubim and Seraphim Church, located at Bayo Ajao Street, Aboru.
It was gathered that Homicide detectives visited the scene and found the woman in a pool of her blood. The Police believed that the woman died as a result of loss of blood, caused by birth complications.
“The corpse has been removed from the Church to General Hospital Yaba for autopsy. The infant has also been taken to hospital for medical examination and care. The midwife has been arrested and moved to SCID for further investigations,” said Elkana.
