Operatives attached to Okoko Police Divisional Headquarters, Lagos
State, led by the Divisional Police Officer, have raided criminal hideouts
inside Alaba Rago market and arrested six suspected Indian helms dealers.
The suspects are, Ayomide Samuel, 21, Job Omesi, 16, Buhari Oseni,
27, Muda Haruna, 30, Obasanjo Segun 37, and Suraju
Ayuba, 28 , were arrested with six nylons bags filled with dried leaves
suspected to be Indian helm.
While Detectives attached to Area J Command Lagos arrested six
suspected cultists in connection with the clash between Eye and Aiye cult
groups, which occurred on April 14, General paint, Ajah and the clash left four
Aye cultists dead.
The suspects, Babatunde Wasiu , 30, of No. 22, Lumo Street
off Surulere; Bolaji Elijah,25, of No. 44, Yewa Road, Pokah Imontun
Epe; Joseph Timoth, 32, No. 5, Okia Jano street Eredo,Epe;
Bolaji Olayiwola, 22, No. 6, Okesuna Street ,Obalende; Saheed
Lateef, 22, No. 13, Baale Obodo Street, Okeranla Street , Langbasa
, Ajah , and Julius Augele,20, No. 13, Obodo Street, Okeranla,
Langbasa, Ajah, Lagos.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) DSP Bala
Eklana, on April 27, with the strength of information, police sweep in action
and arrested the suspects who deals in Indians helm in the market.
He further said axes and jack knives which the arrested suspected
cultists, used during the clash were recovered from them.
The PPRO added that investigation is ongoing; and suspects will be
charged to Court.
He noted: “The four suspected cultists were earlier arrested
and charged to Court in connection with the murder incident, bringing the
number of suspects arrested to ten. Homicide section of the State Criminal
Investigation Department CID, Panti is investigating the case. Suspects will be
charged to Court”.
