According to eyewitnesses Ibraheem,
after allegedly stealing the items, tried to escape through a collapsed fence
at the back of the school in a mini bus, which he brought to cart away the
stolen items.
He was intercepted by the mob and
eventually beaten to death. Among those that joined in beating him to death
were members of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC).
Also attacked and beaten was the
driver of the mini bus, who came with Ibraheem to cart away the iron rods. The
driver is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital in the town.
The Head, Directorate of Public
Affairs, Redeemer's University, Ede, Mr. Adetunji Adeleye, while confirming the
incident, said: “It was hoodlums that killed Ibraheem at Ededimeji area, an
extension of the school's land on this ill-fated day."
