A five-year-old boy identified as Praise Emeka, has been burnt to death in
their apartment at Igando area of Lagos State.
The incident occurred at Ben Okonkwo Street, Igando area of the
metropolis, on October 4, at about 9p.m.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), a Deputy
Superintendent of Police (DSP), Bala Elkana, while confirming the incident,
explained that immediately Policemen from Igando Police Station received the
distress call, they swiftly moved to the scene.
He said: “Our policemen were able to salvage the situation with support
from Fire Service. Unfortunately, the little boy was burn beyond recognition. Some
other occupants of the building were rescued. The fire was prevented from
escalating to other buildings in the neighbourhood. Investigation is ongoing to
ascertain the cause of the incident.”
Still speaking, Elkana disclosed that the command also arrested two suspected
armed robbers, operating in Army Uniform at Second Rainbow Bus stop, Festac
area of the state.

as Chizoba Okeke (30). He was arrested on October 6, at about 10:30p.m.
It was learnt that immediately
operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARs), from Festac Police Station
received a distress call from a filling station, that a robber was sighted in
the area; the police swiftly moved to the scene and arrested the suspect.
Elkana said: “Two phones, one Sword,
house breaking implements, two daggers, a Point of Sale (POS) machine and
Automated Teller Machine (ATM) card were recovered from him. It is not yet
established whether the suspect belongs to the gang of dismissed soldiers arrested
some weeks ago. Investigation is on-going to ascertain where and how the
suspect got the military uniform.”
