Nigerians celebrate DPO for rescuing man attacked by robbers

Some Nigerians have taken to social media to celebrate the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Ogudu Police Station, Celestina Nwankwo, for rescuing a victim shot and left for dead by suspected armed robbers at Agudu area of Lagos State.

Nwankwo, described by a growing fan base as an angel and super cop, did not only take the bleeding man to hospital, but made the initial deposit before the hospital, where he was taken to, accepted to commence treatment.
According to a source, since the admission of the guy in the hospital, the DPO has spent over N400, 000 on his medical bill. She was able to raise this money through borrowing.
The story, which was shared on Chris Kehinde Nwandus’ Facebook wall, has been shared several times by other admiring people.
Nwandu wrote: “On September 19, a young man named Ajabor Friday was shot by armed robbers and left for dead at Ogudu. As usual hospitals refused to take him in until officer Celestina intervened and had to threaten fire and brimstone before the young man was taken into a hospital. Of course they said the usual, ‘we cannot treat him without payment.’ Officer Celestina has spent over N400, 000 that she did not have, she even had to borrow, to see young Friday through a major operation and he is now out of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and stabilised.”
It was further stated when Nwankwo was asked why she took the responsibility of saving a dying stranger, she reportedly responded: “When the young man looked up at me while bleeding, he held my hand, and said, ‘mama don’t leave me! I do not want to die.’ I knew there was no way I could leave him and know peace. I had to try my best.”
Social media has been buzzing over the humanitarian gesture of Nwankwo.
A Facebook user, Yomi George Semako, said: “God will perfect all that concerns in Mrs Celestina’s life. She will not be a victim of any evil, including her husband, children and family. Well deserve promotion.”

Yemi Shodimu said: “I have met and interacted officially with Celestina Nwakwo, and I can boldly say she is a pride to the Nigeria Police. Her passion for the job is infectious. She has rekindled my hope and respect for the men and women in uniform.”
Oloyede Oworu, noted: “A worthy officer! There are a lot of good people in the police force. It's the bad guys that are messing the place up.”
Maximillian Okafor opined: “This officer seriously need to be celebrated and motivated. By so doing, the Police will have a good image and reputation for the institution and revive the trust in the Police and encourage young officers. God bless you Ma.”
Stephena Ifeoma Nkachukwu has this to say: “I get very misty-eyed and sometimes actually weep whenever I behold such humane acts as this. And I wondered: Do angels still live on earth? Heaven's still got some wingless angels on planet earth!”
Femi Akintunde-Johnson said: “What's been done to reimburse her, and challenge the callousness of the hospital management? Every life ought to matter greatly. Thank you Celestina.”
Igwe Hosea Chibueze said: “Please say it louder. SP Celestina Nwankwo is a super cop, with a rare sense of humanity. I visited her station on Sunday evening, she works round the clock. I was touched hearing what she did for a stranger she met on the way. People of this sort deserve our commendation.”
