Nigerians celebrate ASP for returning missing money, phone

An Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Peter Martins, attached to Ikotun Police Station has invalidated the belief of some Nigerians that all policemen are corrupt.

According to Mr. Uche Maduemesi, Martins stunned him speechless by going through pains to locate his wife and ensure that her missing handbag, which contained N50, 000 and phone were returned.

Maduemesi, who took to his Facebook space to celebrate Martins said: “This officer has restored my confidence in the Nigeria Police. He made efforts, through repeated calls, to trace and return the sum of N50, 000 cash and telephone set which fell off the bag of my wife inside a tricycle in Lagos on October 10, 2019. Supol Martins, an officer with Ikotun Police Division, sighted the items at the back of the tricycle at a roadblock and recovered them. He then used the phone to trace people on the contact list, especially the latest callers that morning. He called me, the husband to ask if I knew her. He explained to me how he recovered the phone and 'some valuable items' from the tricycle. He requested that my wife should get in touch with him to identify and recover the items. In summary, my wife got in touch with him at Ikotun Police Station and he returned the cash and phone to her. I wish to commend him for his honesty.  He is a good ambassador of the Nigeria Police Force. His types are needed in all spheres and strata of our society for a better Nigeria. Supol Martins, my prayers for you is that you will ascend to greater heights in the police force.  Keep up with your honesty as you serve our fatherland and it shall be well with you.”

The post, which has been shared over a hundred times, has also attracted attention and praises from other Nigerians.
Reacting, Prince Fola Abolade said: “Bless you man; a man of honour not of horror. I respect you amongst all Nigerian policemen if you can be clone and replace all policemen in Naija with your clone this country will be great again.”
Ngozi Maduka Good said: “Supol Martins. Nigerians are proud of you. God will reward you with divine favour and wisdom in your field of your work in Jesus name Amen.”
Fola Omokayode has this to say: “In due course, your honesty and loyalty will lead you to the next level, stay blessed, you make me a proud Nigerian.”
Chris Agupugo noted: “That's very good, an encouraging act from the Nigeria Police. An Oasis in the desert. Thanks brother Peter, help to train some of your trainable colleagues.”
Patrick Ikedigwe stated: “Supol Peter Martins continue with your good works. Don't allow the bad eggs in the Nigeria Police to win you over to their various ways of cheating people. I pray that with your latest deed, the leadership of the Nigeria Police will promote you. I hope the Force Public Relations Officer, Mr Frank Mba, will read my comments. I wish you the blessings of the Almighty Yahweh.”
Emeka Iloegbunam chirps in: “This is rare, kind, diligent, serious and law abiding citizen. To cap it all, a fine police officer in NPF. We cherish him. Please the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and Police Service Commission (PSC), should immediately consider supol Peter M. for promotion. Pete you’re a ‘shining Star, which has its true and resting,’ Shakespeare. Thanks for this show of decency.”
