Kaduna: Kidnappers lay sieges, attack three streets

Several people are believed to have been killed, many injured and more abducted on Thursday when suspected kidnappers invaded Ungwan Gimbiya community in the Sabo-Tasha area of Kaduna State.

According to eyewitnesses’ accounts, the kidnappers, who came in large numbers, stormed the communities about 10:45pm, when footballers were watching the Matvn United match and unleashed terror.

They attacked three streets and invaded all the houses in these streets. The gunmen operated from 10:45pm to 1:20am.

The attacks were said to have been so brutal that the cries of scared and wound enveloped the night.

Armed with sophisticated guns, they shot sporadically into the air and then began shooting anything that moves. They kidnapped children and women.

One of the dead was a man who delayed in opening his door when the kidnappers banged on it.

The eyewitness said: “It was a sad night for us yesterday about 10:45pm when most people were watching Matvn United match, others were crying for help in Ungwan Gimbiya in Sabo-Tasha. The kidnappers came in their numbers, with heavy weapons. The sounds of their guns, which I heard yesterday was mad! The guns were more than AK49. They carried children, women and middle aged boys and girls. They killed a man for refusing to open his door on time. The unfortunate thing we noticed is that they didn’t even choose their victims anymore. They broke into three streets and every house in those streets. They also carried a family who haven't even completed their building, who were still sleeping on rug for God sake, and also living with their chicken in the room. My concern now is this; what will they get from such families who are struggling to even feed and survive for heaven sake? It was a terrible night yesterday 2nd December 2021. May God protect and comfort families of the deceased and protect those who were kidnapped as well. This insecurity is real. Pray it never come close to your community. My eyes are heavy and I need serious sleep. Kaduna don tire me I swear.”
