217 days: ECWA declares three-day fasting, prayer for Leah Sharibu

Juliana Francis
The Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), declared all members to embark on a three-day fasting and prayer for Leah Sharibu.

In a circular signed by Reverend Yunusa Nmadu Junior, ECWA General Secretary, all ECWA churches worldwide were encouraged to partake in the exercise.
This call for prayer and fasting for Leah Sharibu comes up just as Sharibu marked 217 days in Boko Haram’s captivity.
Sharibu is the only Christian among the abducted 119 students of Government Girls Secondary School, Dapchi, Yobe State, kidnapped in February.
The circular written on September 19, was sequel to the recent threat to Sharibu’s life and her continual incarceration.
The letter states: “Following recent threat to the life of Leah Sharibu and her continued incarceration in the hands of her abductors, the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) has declared Monday 24th-Wednesday 26, September 2018, a time of prayer and fasting for her release and other abductees of Boko Haram. All ECWA churches are to take note and observe these days. We kindly urge other churches worldwide to join.”
