Lagos Police arrests 23 suspected cultists, recovers 32 live cartridges

The Anti-cultism Unit of the Lagos State Police Command has arrested 23 suspected cultists across the metropolis and recovered 32 live cartridges from them.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Chike Oti, who made the disclosure, added that police operatives, in another operation, recovered a Pump Action Rifle in a Toyota Camry saloon car on January, 6, 2019.
According to him, Ismaila Ebenizer (38), Hillary Nwoha (40), Iwuagwu Joseph (33) and Iwuanyanwu Ifeanyi (60) were occupants of the car. He further alleged that investigation so far has revealed that the suspects belonged to a kidnapping gang, which had been terrorizing Ikorodu axis of the state.
Similarly, the police arrested four suspects in Ijanikin area for invading the house of Mr Ayilara Babatunde Sheriff, with the aim of robbing him. The suspects were arrested on December 30.
Oti noted: "Before the hoodlums could begin their operation, a team of policemen swung into action and arrested the suspects. The suspects are; Israel Okoye, (20), Temitayo Ogundayo, (19), Azeez Bankole (20) and Abeeb Bamgbopa (22). During a search of the suspects, a brown bag containing two toy pistols, one table knife and one big cellotape were recovered.”
