The
Lagos State Police Command has arrested seven suspects for allegedly dispossessing
motorists of their valuables along Ajegunle, Alakuko and Ejigbo areas of Lagos
State.
The
suspects are Opeyemi Suraju (22), Abdullahi Hammed (18), Abiodun Adegoke (20),
Samuel Innocent (25), Basit Makinde (20) and Motunrayo Akeem (23).
Special
Anti-Robbery Squad, who arrested them, recovered machetes and daggers from
them.
According
to the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Chike Oti, the
suspects were arrested on January, 2.
Oti
said: “Some of the hoodlums, armed with guns and other dangerous weapons went
to Ajegunle area of Alakuko to dispossess motorists of their valuables.
Operatives of Alakuko Police Station got the information and raced to the scene.
On sighting the policemen, the robbers scampered in different directions
to avoid arrest. They were chased by the police and eventually arrested. After
the arrest, the suspects confessed to the crime.”
In
another development, police arrested Faruba Idris (32) at the Ejigbo area of
Lagos State. Idris was also arrested for allegedly robbing motorists. He had in
his possession, a cut to size locally made gun, with two cartridges.
