Client kills sex worker during squabble over none payment

Mr. Babatunde Damilare has been arrested by detectives attached to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department, (SCIID),Panti, Yaba, for killing a sex worker during squabble over none payment for services.


The incident was said to have occurred at the Surulere area of Lagos State. It was gathered that on November 6, at about 10:30p.m, Policemen at Surulere Police Station, received information that a commercial sex worker, identified simply  as Elochukwu, had engaged her customer, Babatunde Damilare in a fight over the price of sexual services she rendered at Edo Inn Hotel, Number 17 Atan Street, Empire, Surulere. 

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Bala Elkana revealed that during the  scuffle,  Damilare allegedly picked a knife and stabbed Elochukwu several times on her neck, leading to her death. 

Elkana added: “The suspect was however arrested by Homicide detectives led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Surulere, a Chief Superintendent of Police, (CSP) Adebayo Adeoya. While the remains of the deceased was later evacuated and deposited at Mainland Hospital morgue, Yaba, for autopsy. Bala, however, stated that the suspect would be charged to Court. 

Meanwhile, a 35-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly defiling a five-year-old girl at the Bariga area of Lagos State.

It was gathered that on November 5, at about 3:15p.m, policemen from Bariga Police Station, arrested Bunmi Adeyemi (35), residing at Number 8 Alhaji Alake Street.

The suspect was said to have been arrested by a team of detectives from the Family Support Unit for allegedly defiling the minor. During interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime. 

Elkana said the victim was later taken to Mirabel Centre Ikeja for medical treatment and forensic examination. Elkana added that the Commands Gender Unit has taken over the investigation and that the  suspect would also be charged to court.
