A yet to be identified gateman has
allegedly killed his 26-year-old boss, Segun Afolabi, a financial Analyst at Gbagada
residence area of Lagos State and attempted to take his property.
The deceased, an ex-president of Nigeria
Economics Students Association of Covenant University, was alleged to have been
murdered on November 4, by his gateman.
It was gathered that Afolabi before his
death, on several occasions has given financial support to the gateman.
It was also alleged that the gateman
connived with one of Afolabi’s neighbours, who showed interest in the car the
deceased bought a week ago, to kill his boss.
After successfully killing the man, they
wrapped him in duvet, placed him in the boot of the new car and later dumped him
in front of Gbagada General Hospital, while they drove off.
The gateman was said to have later sent
his wife to Afolabi’s house to steal all his valuables. The trio was later
nabbed alongside his accomplice when they were flagged down at a police
checkpoint in Edo State on November 5. This was just as they were escaping with
the looted items taken from the deceased’s house.
When contacted on the incident, the
Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), a Deputy Superintendent of
Police (DSP) Bala Elkana, said he didn’t have any brief on the murder of the
financial analysts as at press time. He however promised link up with his
colleagues in Edo State to get further information about the matter.
