Eye witnesses said that the robbers
attacked at evening hours, just as traders, accompanied by soldiers were carrying their millions in sacks
to the Skye bank.
The commercial bike robbers were
three on a single motorbike; two were masked but the rider brazenly exposed his face. People speculated
that those in mask might be members of the traders in the market.
According to another eye witness, on
that fateful day of the attack, a staff of the bank was assisting the traders
to carry their million which was in sacks into the bank when the robbers suddenly appeared from
nowhere and started shooting like they were in some wild Wild West movie.
The sporadic hail of bullets hit a
solder, a Skye bank, a female recharged card seller, plus another civilian. It was
further gathered that several people received bullet wounds.
In the ensuing melee, the robbers snatched one
of the sacks loaded with money and disappeared.
