10 burn to death in Lagos-Ibadan expressway auto crash

Ten passengers on Monday evening, got burnt to death in a motor accident along Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
The accident, according to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Oluyole Unit Commander, Sanya Adeoye, who confirmed the incident, said it involved three vehicles: two trucks and one 18-seater Toyota Hiace commercial bus with registration number OYO BDG 767 XB.

According to Adeoye, the Lagos-Ibadan bound bus had stopped on the road to allow one of the trucks  with registration number LAGOS SW 175 EPE coming out from the NSCE Quarry navigate unto the expressway when  another truck, which was also coming from Lagos, ran into the commercial bus.  Immediately after, the stationed commercial bus went up in flames, which thereafter spread to other trucks.
The FRSC Unit commander said four people survived the accident, while the victims, numbering 10, were burnt beyond recognition.
He added that the accident was as a result of over-speeding, violation and dangerous driving.
He said the four people who sustained injuries were passengers inside the trucks and that had been taken to the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, for treatment while the victims who were burnt beyond recognition were deposited at the Adeoyo State Hospital mortuary.
As at the time of filing this report, the FRSC Unit Command were making frantic efforts to reach out to families of the victims through the driver’s manifest which was surprisingly still intact.
