A man riding a motorcycle, according to eyewitnesses, had dropped a pack containing the IED along Sir Kashim Ibrahim road by Sultan Road junction.

“The people conducting business in the area foolishly rushed and picked the deadly pack, they thought it was something valuable,” an eyewitness, who craved for anonymity had said.
But men of the anti-bomb squad from the state police command successfully detonated the IED before it could cause any harm.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Aminu Lawan, told journalists that “we got a distress call that a suspected polythene bag containing a questionable substance was dropped by a moving Okadaman, so we quickly ordered our anti-bomb squad team tothe area.”
“The area was immediately condoned off when it was discovered that the polythene bag contained high calibre IED, and our anti-bomb squad was able to successfully detonate the IED and the situation was immediately brought under control.
“As I speak to you now, the area is calm and people are already going about their normal activities. Meanwhile effort to apprehend the suspect is in top gear” he said.
He said men of the surveillance team and CID were deployed to the area to monitor the movement of people, and advised that people should be more vigilant.
Before the device was detonated, there was confusion in the area which is close to one of the most expensive private schools in Kaduna, as some vehicles rammed into each other, while parents rushed to convey their children back home from school.
The incident happened while Governor Ramalan Yero was having discussions with traditional rulers from across the state over the recent attacks in the Southern part of the state.
Another eyewitness said though efforts were made to apprehend the suspect who dropped the polythene bag containing the IED, “but he had gone very far and  could not be apprehended.”
“When we saw the suspected polythene bag, we tried to see if we can catch up with the okadaman that dropped it but he had gone far and we could not catch up with him. It was then that we called the police and it was discovered that it was an IED that was contained in the polythene bag,” he said.
Meanwhile, for allegedly posting gory pictures of victims of the recent attack on communities in Southern Kaduna on the internet, the police in Kaduna State have arrested a former Senior Special Assistant to late Governor Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa on Media and Publicity, Mr Reuben Buhari and whisked him away to Abuja.
Journalists were told in confidence that the police “acted on orders from above “ to quiz Buhari who returned to ThisDay newspapers after the demise of Yakowa and was transferred to Abuja.
According to a close associate of Buhari, “he was first invited for questioning on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 and detained for about six hours and made to write an undertaking not to post more pictures because they said they were inciting, before he was released.”
The state Commissioner of Police, Umar Shehu, said he was arresting Buhari for onward transfer to the force headquarters in Abuja for further investigations over the pictures he posted on the internet discussion group, Gurara Forum (GF).”
Buhari had in a text message, said: “I have been invited to the police headquarters again by the CP. Right now on my way.”
