For preferring a ‘nice time’ at a club to his duty, a police
sergeant, simply identified as Tokunbo, is now in trouble. The
policeman, attached to Area F Police Command, Ikeja, Lagos, has been
arrested and detained for losing his pistol to robbers while enjoying
himself inside a night club at Igando area of the metropolis.
The sergeant also lost his Toyota Camry car. Tokunbo, according to a
police source, parked his car outside the night club and walked in to
have a ‘nice time,’ leaving his pistol inside the car. After the fun, he
came out to discover that his car and Bereta pistol, loaded with eight
rounds of ammunition, had been stolen.
Efforts to locate his car and
those who stole it were fruitless.
Tokunbo was said to have reluctantly gone to report the issue to his
Area Commander, Mr. Tunde Adagunduro, who felt that the sergeant was not
being totally honest with him. The area commander, thereafter, ordered
the arrest and detention of the sergeant. When contacted, the state
Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide, said she was going to
investigate the case. She also promised to brief our correspondent on
the outcome. However, at press time, she was yet to call back.
