Detectives attached to the Lagos State Police Command have arrested
32 years-old Evens for allegedly killing his lover, son over infidelity at
Igando Area of the state.
It was learnt that the suspect was said to have murdered the
lady and her son and then dumped them in a septic tank for dating someone in
their neighborhoods.
When our correspondent visited the house where the incident
took place yesterday, some residents where seen still discussing about the gruesome
murdered of mother and son in that manner.
One of the neighbors of the suspect who does not want his name
in print said, finding the corpse of the lady and her son in the septic tank
took every occupants of the building by surprise.
He said: “last year September when the septic tank in the
compound was spilling, we decided to evacuate some of the waste inside. After the
clearing we left the slab open without cementing it.”
“In one of our meeting, some of my co- tenants, where complaining
that whenever they flush from their toilets they always perceived stinking odour
oozing out from the septic tank. That was what prompted us to open the slab
again. Behold what we saw was a decomposing corpse.”
Immediately after seeing the corpse, we went to informed the
Community Development Association Chairman who in turned reported to the Baale
of the community and Igando Police Station.
Another tenants who simply identified himself as Joshua told
our correspondent that the decomposing body of the woman and her was later evacuated
from the septic tank by the officials of the state fire fighters.
“Before the discovery
of the mother and son in the septic tank, I learnt the deceased had been
declared missing. “
The deceased parents was said to have approached Evens to know
about her movement because of the
relationship that is exist between him
and their daughter only to told them that their daughter and her son was not with him.
“during the weekend when I don’t go to office, I used to the
lady coming to the suspect house with her son about five year-old to visit him . It was a pity I don’t know
what the parents of the lady would be going through by now.”
Joshua, urged the police to investigate the matter properly,
because there was a time when the suspect want to set the whole building ablaze
that his former wife was cheating on him. It was God that safe us that fateful
day.
According to the CDA Chairman, Mr Busari Ahmed, ‘ since I packed into the community 25 years
ago, we have not witness such brutal murdered.
Ahmed said, when the matter was brought to my noticed I informed
the head of the community and policemen from Igando division. But to our surprise
the suspect had escaped after killing the victim but later arrested.
He said: “ The Police was able to arrest
the suspect through one of his co-tenants, who he approached that he wants to disposed some of his belongings in his apartment,
when he came to negotiate with the buyer policemen who had lied ambushed for
him arrested him.”
New Telegraph had reported that the suspect, who is a member
of black Axe, was said to have beaten the lady to death and dump mother and son
into septic tanks.
