Police educate residents on recruiting domestic staff

Recruiting domestic staff should be carried out with due diligence in collaboration with the police.
This advice was handed down by the Divisional Police Officer of the Victoria Island police station CSP Olusegun Ajomalaya.

CSP Ajomalaya stated this during the award presentation to him by  This Moment Media in conjunction with William Russell Foundation USA.

Prince Osuya Omotunde Aiyekooto

Editor This Moment Media , Abuja

stated that the award was given to CSP Ajomalaya in recognition of his bravery and dedication to duty .

Prince Aiyekoto said " This award is aimed at recognising the policing strategy of CSP Ajomalaya in keeping Victoria Island peaceful especially his intervention at the school of Oceanography where there was a dispute between the management of the school and the students. This problem was taken to Abuja but it was not resolved. The students were spoilt for riot but CSP Ajomalaya intervened and normalcy returned to the school. Also, several activities held at Victoria Island from December 1st , from the COPA Lagos, to the CAF Beach soccer, the Lagos Street party not to mention the one Lagos Fiesta . All these events and many more were successful without any criminal activities recorded. Also the Victoria Island police station has witnessed unprecedented renovation under his leadership. These and many more are reasons he is  worthy of the award''

CSP Ajomalaya while reacting to the award expressed appreciation for the award stated that the crime in Victoria Island follows the pattern where domestic workers steal from thier bosses.

He stated that in order to nip such crime in the bud, the police in the Division had constantly held seminars to educate residents on the need to profile their staff before employing them.

He said '" There is the need for all hands to be on deck in checking crime. Staff profiling is part of the ways of checking domestic workers from stealing from their bosses. Residents are advised to involve the police before they employ their staff. This is to ensure that they do not employ people with criminal record. This is what we call preventive or proactive policing .The Commissioner of police Mr. Fatia Owoseni also visited banks and organisations to talk to them on the need to profile their staff. It is not when there is problem that you will come to the police. This award is dedicated to the officers and men of the station who are the foot soldiers.  This award will spur us to do more for the community. It will boost our morale as our duty is to ensure that people sleep with their eyes closed"

It can be recalled that one Miss Dayo Adeleke was murdered recently in her home at Parkview estate by her Cameroonian cleaner over issue bordering on salary increment.
