How man lures kids into sodomy via social media

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a suspect, who allegedly used to lure young boys into sodomy via social media.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Fatai Owoseni, who announced the arrest of the suspect on Wednesday, did not disclose the suspect’s name.

He, however, described the suspect as a serial sodomist, urging parents and guardian to pay vigilant attention to their kids and wards’ activities on social media. The CP explained that the suspect used to catch the innocent kids through social media by offering them free Android phones.

Owoseni said: “The suspect was arrested because of the activities going on in a school, from where the information got to the police. On further investigations, we found out that the suspect is a serial sodomist. The suspects specialized in luring school children into sodomy through social media by enticing them with free mobile phones. His targets are mostly secondary schools boys. Parents and guardians should pay attention to what their children do on the internet because the sodomist uses the advantage of the internet to lure school children.”

The CP also mentioned the arrest of seven suspects who specialized in tricking unsuspecting Nigerians into bringing mobile phones to them at hotels for sale. The suspects would collect the phones and disappear without paying.
Owoseni noted that the suspects were arrested by a combined team of Anti-Kidnapping Squad and Anti- Robbery squad (SARS).
The two teams were said to have carried out a raid at Ijagemo, Ikotun Local Government Area of the metropolis on May 12, leading to the arrest.

Owoseni added: “A police officer in the command, who went for the operation, was shot on the leg. Items recovered from the suspects are one Pump Action Rifle, one double barrel gun, one cut to size locally made single barrel gun, one locally made revolver pistol, a jack knife, seven cartridges and ammunition. The items are believed to have been abandoned by the criminal element at the sight of policemen. Other items used by this gang were recovered with the help of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS). The other items recovered are; a rifle, pistol and an axe.”

Owoseni assured members of the public that the police command will not relent in doing everything within the armpit of the law to rid the state of criminal elements. He also vowed to curb the menace of kidnap for ransom in the state.
