Ritual killers’ den: 30 arrested for jungle justice, attacking policemen



The Lagos State Police Command has arrested 30 people for allegedly carrying out jungle justice and attacking policemen at the Obadeyi and Ile-Zink areas of Lagos State last week.


The 30 suspects were grabbed at Obadeyi and Ile-Zink areas, where ritual killers’ den, were said to have been discovered inside tunnels.

Angry mobs at both areas embarked on a killing spree, burning suspected ritual killers to death. They also attacked and injured policemen were tried to save some people from being burnt.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Fatai Owoseni, said that the suspects were arrested in connection with the attacked on policemen, who were on their official assignments.
Owoseni added: “Some of the hoodlums joined hands to attack and injured security agents carrying out their lawful duties. Thirty of hoodlums were picked up from the scenes when they were attacking the security agencies. They will be arraigned for disturbance of public peace and wounding police officers on duty. It shall no longer be mere talk. We are emphasizing that security agencies will no longer fold their arms and allow people to turn the command into a place without law and order.”
He added: “We appeal to members of the public that at any time, when suspicious movements or location are identified, to report to security agencies. We assure members of the public that complaints shall be addressed. You can also reach senior police officers through distributed numbers. We want to assure members of the public that any information given to us shall be investigated diligently.”
He further stressed: “We need vital evidences and witnesses to testify. For example, in the case of the ritual killers’ den at Ajala, anyone has been a victim of rape or any other attacks should show up at our office. This will help us to put up our evidences together for successful prosecutions.”
