Detectives of the Special
Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Taraba State Police Command have killed a suspected
armed robber and injured others.
The death of the suspect and injury
of his colleagues occurred on November 11, at about 9:30am, after the police
received information that the robbers were operating along Kwassa feeder road
in Bali Local Government Area.
According to the Taraba State Commissioner
of police, David Akinremi, a team of policemen was immediately dispatched to
the scene.
On approaching the scene, the team
engaged the hoodlums in a gun battle and in the process, gunned down one while
two others sustained gunshot injuries. The wounded later died on the way to the
hospital.
Other members of the gang however
escaped into the nearby bush.
Items recovered from the hoodlums
include one locally made pistol with one live cartridge, one Dane gun, a face
mask, a knife and some charms. Intensive search is on going to apprehend others
who escaped with gunshot injuries.
