ABDUCTION OF NOLLYWOOD STAR : Police parade 4 suspects

FOUR  suspected criminals arrested in connection with the abduction of  popular Nollywood star, Nkiru Sylvanus, were, on Monday,  paraded before newsmen by the Imo State police command.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Adisa Bolanta, who paraded the suspects along with other suspects involved in various crimes at the police command headquarters, said that the four were apprehended, following a tip- off by some patriotic individuals while the others escaped due to information by a Okada rider who was an accomplice in the case.
The commissioner also disclosed that on December 18, 2012, a middle-aged woman, who was abducted in a community in Ngor-Okpala Local Government Area of the state and a ransom of N20 million demanded by her abductors for her release, had been rescued by the police.
On getting wind of her abduction, the police boss explained  that his men immediately swung into action and traced the hoodlums   somewhere in Rivers State where she was eventually rescued on December 18,2012.
Bolanta reiterated the ban on the illegal use of siren by unauthorised persons in the state, even as he displayed a Navy blue colour Peugeot 406 car impounded by the police for illegal use of siren in the state.
The Commissioner of police therefore warned criminals still operating in the state to abandon their evil ways or be prepared to meet their waterloo.
Mr. Bolanta advised residents of the state to continue to go about their legitimate and lawful business without fear of intimidation and molestation, even as he appealed to members of the public to continue to assist the police with useful information that could lead to the arrest of criminals, assuring that the police was poised to make the state a haven for all.
