Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers yesterday struck in Uzere, Isoko
South Local Government Area of Delta State and whisked away the
Chairman, Governing Council of Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku,
Professor Abednego Elo Ekoko.
Although, details of the incident were still sketchy as at press time
yesterday, it was said that Ekoko, a prominent educationist, was
abducted at the gate of his country home in the oil-rich but highly
volatile community. According to a source who pleaded not to be
mentioned, Ekoko had returned from church and was about to drive out
when the hoodlums who had apparently laid ambush at the gate swooped on
him.
The source added that the bandits fired sporadic gunshots into the
air to scare away any resistance before they bundled the victim into
their waiting vehicle and sped off to unknown destination. As at the
time of filing this report, the whereabouts of the university don
remained unknown, as the kidnappers were yet to make contact with the
family members of the victim.

Famous Ajieh when contacted by Daily Sun in Asaba, said his office was
yet to receive the report about the abduction.
