THERE was confusion on Saturday morning around Adekunle axis of the
Third Mainland Bridge, when a vehicle plunged into the lagoon. The lone
casualty was, however, rescued by a team of divers and was immediately
rushed to the hospital.
The situation created a serious traffic gridlock along the ever busy bridge as some drivers tried to manoeuvre through the jam.
Sunday Tribune gathered that the vehicle, a Toyota Siena space bus,
was heading towards the mainland when it skidded off the road and
plunged into the lagoon.
Local fishermen and divers sprang into action and after about 20 to
30 minutes, the vehicle was located. The victim was first rescued and
taken away to an undisclosed hospital where he was said to be receiving
treatment.
Sadiq Abdulrahman, the Lagos Island unit commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps confirmed the incident to Sunday Tribune.
