In an effort to rid Plateau State, especially Jos, of criminal
activities, the state police command has intercepted a human head and a
headless corpse of a male adult cut into parts and concealed in a bag
and arrested a man trading in firearms.
Addressing newsmen in
Jos, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Chris Olakpe, disclosed that a
man, who preferred to remain anonymous, reported to the police that he
discovered a bag containing a lifeless head of an unidentified person
abandoned on the road opposite his house.
According to him,
de-tectives from ‘A’ Division police station also recovered a headless
corpse of a male adult person cut into parts in a bag in front of Oyin
Enterprises, on the Tafawa Balewa Road, Jos, adding that the parts and
the body were later identified to be one Abraham Adukuchili Aka of
Farin Gada road, Jos.
Olakpe pointed out that men of the command
later raided Green Park Hotel, on the old Bukuru park, Jos, and arrested
one Ebuka Obiora and Usman Sarki, who confessed in their statements and
mentioned seven others as accomplices.
In another operation, the
commissioner of police said following a tip off, the police and
soldiers arrested one Adamu Ibrahim and Usman Abdullahi for trading in
firearms, adding that they were arrested while soliciting for
prospective buyers of an SMG riffle.
He added that the suspects,
during interrogation, confessed committing the crime, adding that during
a search of the house and premises of the said Abubakar, on sighting
the team, escaped while one SMG riffle, one live cartridge and four live
ammunition were recovered.
He, therefore, enjoined members of
the public to continue to cooperate with the police and other security
agencies by volunteering credible information by being vigilant and by
reporting suspicious movement and objects for prompt action to sustain
the prevailing peace.
