Gunmen kill four in Jos

Four people were said to have been killed in Fang, Bachit District, Riyom Local Government of Plateau State on Monday evening by gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen.
Executive Director of Stephanos Foundation, Mr. Mark Lipdo, gave the names of the victims as Gyang Pius, Markus Davou, Yohanna Bature and Monday Kimtong, He said two others – Samuel Umaru and Keneng Pius – were receiving treatment at the Vom Christian Hospital.
There was anxiety at the hospital when some angry youths tried to pick the corpses. The youths who wanted to protest the killings at the Government House, Rayfied, and headquarters of the Special Task Force, were chased away by some security men.
The spokesman for the task force, Capt. Salisu Mustapha, confirmed the killing of four persons by some gunmen. He confirmed that the victims were travelling in a bus when the assailants opened fire on them.
He called on residents of the area to be calm. He said investigations were on to bring the culprits to book.
Lawmaker representing Riyom constituency in the Plateau State House of Assembly, Mr. Daniel Dem, said the four people were shot dead around 5pm in a vehicle enroute Fang village in Riyom.
