A five-year-old
boy, who was simply identified as Dayo, has been rescued from some suspected
kidnappers, who attempted taking him away in a tricycle popularly known as keke Marwa.
Dayo who had
gone out with his mother was said to have been dragged into the tricycle by one
Tope Akingbemila, who was in company of some other three suspected kidnappers.
Unknowingly
to the suspected kidnappers, the mother of the victim who was close by raised
alarm, as she saw her child being dragged into the tricycle. An angry mob gave the suspected kidnappers a
hot chase.
It was
gathered that after some hours of chasing the victim, Dayo was rescued while
one of suspects, Tope Akingbemila, was arrested and the three others escaped.
While being interrogated
by detectives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Temitope confessed to
the crime and mentioned two other child kidnappings they had successfully
executed and also collected ransoms from their victims.
Police are
however on the trail of the other fleeing gang members.
