Police arrest killer of 2 members of Kano Assembly

The police yesterday announced in Kano the arrest of one Alhaji Ibrahim aged 22 years, as the principal suspect in the assassination of two members of the Kano State House of Assembly, Danlami Isa Kademi and Abba Garko. They were killed on different dates in the recent past.
Police Commissioner, Mr. Ibrahim Idris disclosed this during a press conference at the command’s headquarters, where he said preliminary investigations showed that the killers had no links with the Boko Haram Islamist sect. The commissioner said the suspect, who joined the gang of hired killers in January 2012, named one Abdullahi (alais Mabo) of Filin Kashew, Ugwar Ukwu as the gang leader.
He said so far the gang leader and five other accomplices were still at large. Idris disclosed that the suspect confessed that they were sponsored by one Alhaji Saleh, aged 54, to assassinate the legislators, adding that they were promised N100, 000, but were given N30, 000 only. The commissioner added that a search was conducted in the home of the alleged sponsor, but nothing was found on him.
He, however, added that there were certain evidence, which suggested a grand criminal conspiracy between the duo. These, he stated, included the discovery of the name and GSM contact of the sponsor in the suspect’s phone, in addition to the call logs between them.
He said the suspect had also confessed that they held several meetings with their alleged sponsor on how to assassinate the legislators at the car park in his residence. The police boss assured that efforts were being made to arrest the fleeing suspects. Speaking to newsmen, Alhaji Saleh refuted the claims and denied any involvement in the said crime.
