Minna prisons quarters invasion: Police parade suspect

One of the suspected armed robbers, who raped a housemaid at Minna prisons quarters in Niger State, was, at the weekend, paraded by the Niger State police command.

The suspect, one Gabriel Uche, in company of two others, now at large, had last Tuesday invaded one of the residential houses at the quarters and raped the house help.

The incident, which took place early in the morning after the wife of one the occupants of the quarters, Hajiya Salamatu Yusuf, had gone to drop her daughter at a school in the town, happened when the girl refused to open the door of the house to the armed robbers.

Uche Gabriel, one Suleiman and another accomplice were said to have forcefully gained entrance into the house where the house maid was raped after tying her hands and gagging her mouth.

The state’s deputy Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Richard Oguche, said some of the exhibits recovered by the police at the scene of the crime included a toy gun, one camera, one already used condom, two pairs of shoes, one adhesive tape, a rope, one belt, one ring and one blood-soaked pant.
