The Chief Imam of Lagbasa Central Mosque in Eti Osa Local
Government Area of Lagos State, Alhaji Akibu Alarape Adam, has been
arraigned before a Lagos Magistrate’s Court sitting in Igbosere, for
damaging the fence of an estate.
Alhaji Adam, who was arraigned alongside four others; Alhaji Oseni Falana, Chief Shamisudeen Elegbeleye and Tunde Ashafa was alleged to have conspired with his accomplices to destroy the fence of a 10 Acres of land located at Langbasa Estate, in Eti Osa local government.
The defendants were arraigned on a three count charge for malicious destruction of the fence of an Archbishop
According to the Police Prosecutor, Michael Okon, the defendants destroyed the fence valued at N3million belonging to Archbishop (Dr) Felix Alaba Job.
Part of the charge read: “that you, Akibu Alarape Adam, Oseni Falana, Shamsudeen Elegbeleye, Tunde Ashafa and others at large sometimes in 2012 at Alaba Estate Langbasa town, Eti Osa Local Government, did maliciously damage fence of entire 10 Acres of land valued at N3million, property of Archbishop Dr. Felix Alaba Job.”
The alleged offence committed by the defendants is punishable under Sections 52, 337 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges and were granted bail in the sum of N5million by Magistrate H. O Omisore.
Alhaji Adam is still being remanded at Kirikiri prisons, following his inability to meet his bail conditions.
The matter has been adjourned till July 2, 2013 for trial.
