Security challenges in Nigeria will soon become history says Defence Chief

Newly appointed Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Admiral Ola Sa'ad assured over the weekend that the  current security challenges facing the nation would soon become history.

Sa'ad, who gave the assurance after a special prayer organised for him by the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, however, urged Nigerians to support the incumbent administration of President Goodluck Jonathan, saying it was necessary to the attainment of national goals and objectives.

The CDS noted that since development and growth of the nation are dependent on peace, once Nigerians create room for peace, the armed forces would devote their energies and expertise to other professionals challenges.

He also canvassed support of the people for the armed forces to enhance their smooth operations, as he pointed out that the Nigerian armed forces are blessed with experts and professionals, who have served in various capacities and contributed immensely to ensure the peace in the sub-region.

During the prayer session, Alhaji Sulu Gambari urged the new CDS not to rest on his oars in entrenching peace in the country. The traditional ruler also explained that the prayer was a tradition for all sons and daughters of the emirate that had excelled in their chosen careers, adding that the people were solidly behind him.
