The Ogun State Police Command has launched investigation into the shooting and eventual killing of one Tosin Joye, by unknown vigilante man during the weekend.
The incident, which happened at the Atala Mowe in Obafemi Owode Local Area of Ogun State, was said to have caused shock among the residents, who knew the deceased as a gentle boy. The family of the deceased had also been plunged into mourning, following the death of the youngster.
The deceased, Joye, 24, an Aluminium Fabricator was allegedly shot dead close to his home.
Witnesses claimed that Joye was at the Alata junction, in company of his two friends on Sunday night, at about 10pm when the incident happened. Opposite where Joye was with his friends, was am vigilante man, who watched them.
It was gathered that the vigilante man crossed over to where Joye was with his friends and demanded to know what they were doing outside, at that hour of the night.
Joye with his friends, allegedly told the guard to check his time, that it was not that late, adding that they would soon go home anyway.
An argument broke out between Joye, his friends and the guard. The guard was said to have blew his whistle to attract the attention of his colleagues who were guarding others streets.

Immediately the other guards heard the whistle, they all mobilized and came to where Joye and his friends were standing.
Suddenly, for reasons people were yet to comprehend, one of the vigilante men opened fire, shooting into the midst of Joye and his friends.
One of the bullets slammed into Joye’s forehead and he died instantly at the spot. Some of the friends were also alleged to have sustained injuries.
Sola, who was with Joye when the incident happened, said: “We were at Atala Junction, almost set to go home when a vigilante man came to us. He asked us what we were doing outside at this hour of the night. We told him to check his time, that it was not that late. Besides, we were about to leave.
Sola further said that while the argument was going on, the guard called some of his colleagues, who were close to where the young men were standing.
“Instead of asking us what the argument was all about, one of them went inside and brought out a gun and shot at our friend. We tried to rescue him, but he died at a private hospital,” recalled Sola.
