IRT smashes trans-border gang concealing guns under motorcycle seats

Operatives of the Inspector-General of Police Special Intelligence Response Team (IRT), have smashed gang of armed robbers, which specialized in concealing arms and ammunition under the seats of their motorcycles.

The gang was smashed on Thursday after ran into operatives of the IRT. At least men members had been arrested and are presently assisting detectives with their investigations.

According to police sources, the gang, does not just specialized in arm running, but is also into trans-border car snatching in Nigeria and Benin Republic borders.

The police source added: “While riding the motorcycles, nobody would know that guns were cleverly hidden right under the seats. The gang used to snatch cars in Nigeria and go to Benin Republic to sell them. We’re on the trail of other fleeing members of the gang. Four are already in our custody and are cooperating with us.”
