Shock waves shivered down the spines of most
students of Lagos State University, LASU, Ojo, Lagos State, as news filtered
out that one of their undergraduates plunged into Lagos Lagoon on Monday.
According to sources, Kingsley Gabriel leaped into the Lagos lagoon for reasons
unknown. Gabriel was
alleged to have jumped from Falomo Bridge at about 11 am.
The General Manager, Lagos State
Waterways Authority, LASWA, Mr. Damilola Emmanuel, who confirmed the incident,
disclosed that Gabriel after he jumped was quickly rescued from drowning by LASWA
rescue officials who responded swiftly to the incident.
A source at LASWA office revealed
that immediately the drowning Gabriel was dragged out of the water, rescue team
ensured he was alright.
After ascertaining that he was
alright, officials of LASWA handed him over to Falomo Police Station.
