4th October, 2012. Presidential committee reports case of bribery to police

In response to the widely spread misrepresentation of facts in the media about the involvement of some members of the Presidential Committee on Fuel Subsidy Payment Verification and Reconciliation, the Special Fraud Unit (SFU) is involved in the investigation of the allegation of bribery against members of the committee wish to state that no member of the Presidential Committee is charged with bribery allegation or found wanting as published by some segments of the media.
Our investigation at the Special Fraud Unit (SFU) revealed that there was an attempt by an Oil Marketing and Trading Company named Integrated Oil and Gas to bribe two members of the 25-men Audit team attached to the Presidential Committee on Fuel Subsidy Payment Verification and Reconciliation who rebuffed and reported the matter to the Police through the Presidential Committee Internal Security Network with the sum of N1.5m.
Surprisingly, recent developments in the media have suggested attempts by the Oil Marketing and Trading Company, Integrated Oil and Gas Ltd, presently being investigated for offering gratification to public officials to misinform the general public through the media.  As law enforcement agents and harbingers of national virtue, we wish to present the facts of the matter as follows:
-         None of the 25 members of the Audit team attached to the Presidential Committee was involved in the case of bribery or collected any gratification from Integrated Oil and Gas Ltd

-         The Audit team is presently helping Police in the investigation as they are standing as prosecution witnesses. Specifically, they have volunteered information that have significantly helped in the investigation.

-         Members of the Audit team which includes Alalade Abioye (F), aged 30, Buhari Ganiyu (M), aged 37, Chukwujekwu Nneka Akabueze (F), Oni Oluwasola (M), aged 37  already arraigned are not suspects in this matter as widely published by the media rather Integrated Oil and Gas Ltd  being charged for offering gratification to public officials.

-         The monetary exhibit of N1.5m is in the custody of the Police and will be tendered as evidence as trial progresses.
