Eid-el-kabir: Police read Riot Act to Plateau youths

Plateau State Police Command has warned both religious leaders and parents in the state to advise their children to be law-abiding during the Eid-el-kabir celebration, warning that any youth who foment trouble in the guise of celebration would have himself to blame.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Emmanuel Ayeni, who gave the warning at a meeting with stakeholders in the state towards having a hitch-free Sallah celebration said the police would not tolerate a situation where some elements would want the take advantage of the occasion to unleash mayhem on innocent citizens.
“You, the leaders are to educate your children, as the security agencies would not tolerate any act of lawlessness.
“If as a leader or parent you cannot control your children, it means you have failed in your responsibility. You just have to talk to them, because we have what it takes to enforce law and order; we are just being humane for calling you to dialogue.
“We have done our homework and we are not appealing to you out of fear, but simply want to carry everybody along.
“Leaders, be it Christian or Muslim, should be able to control their followers, while parents also are expected to guide their children in the right path and have full control over them,” he said.
