Robbers storm Bureau De Change in a bus, cart away N7m, kill one

CP, Lagos, Umar Manko

One of the men operating a Bureau De Change at  Alade market, Ikeja, Lagos State, was killed today, when robbers, loaded full in a bus, attacked the market.
The gun men were said to have carted away N7million.
Eye witnesses claimed that the robbers arrived at Alade market, in a bus and started shooting into the air at about 5pm.
The gun shot forced traders, passers-by and motorists to scamper to safety.
Immediately  the robbers noticed that the coast was clear, they allegedly attacked different Bureau De Change offices, carting away both local and foreign currencies amounting to over N7million.
A man, identified as Tijani, operating a Bureau De Change, was said to have been shot in the melee.
A police source, said: “Those men operating Bureau De Changes in  Alade market are the architect of their problems today. It was because of robbers and likely robbery attacks, that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), in charge of Ikeja, stationed a van at the market. But these men went to the Commissioner of Police to complain, that they didn’t like police presence in the market. Now, see what has happened. If those policemen had been there, at least that robbery might not have happened or it could have been foiled.”
Attempts made to get confirmation of the incident from police spokes person; Ngozi Braide was abortive, as she did not pick her calls.
