Police detectives in Delta State have arrested six suspected rapists
allegedly responsible for a series of rape activities in Warri
metropolis.
Police spokesman in the state, ASP Famous Ajieh confirmed that the
suspects were arrested yesterday while using a taxi to deceive
unsuspecting members of the public around Erhneren junction.
He said the police detectives acted on a tip-off, as well as report
by the last victim who boarded their taxi from Odion Street, around Udu.
He revealed that, according to the victim, the rapists took her to an
uncompleted building where she was allegedly raped by four of them
until she became unconscious. Ajieh identified the suspects as Tejiri
Akpoture, Ogbor Seih, Great Obrakpo, Lucky Orieh, Felix Oboru and Joseph
Nkwo, all residents of Cemetery Road, Warri.
The police spokesman disclosed that the suspects, upon interrogation,
confessed to the crime, adding that a Black Berry mobile phone they
used in recording their illicit action was recovered, saying they would
be charged to court after investigation.
Meanwhile, four suspects, including a lady, were yesterday arraigned
before an Asaba Magistrate’s Court for the alleged kidnap of the state
commissioner for higher education, Professor Hope Eghagha.
