Fake IGP’s brother in police net

Sanni

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested man who had been parading himself as younger brother to the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Mohammed Abubakar, in order to defraud people.
The suspect, Sanni Miletwelve Mohammed was arrested at the Ketu police station area, which apparently was his major area of operation.
Police spokesperson, Ngozi Braide, said the fake Sanni was arrested, after the real Sanni Miletwelve Abubalar heard about his antics and alerted policemen.
A trap was cleverly laid for the fake Sanni and he fell like a log of wood into the snare.
Braide added: “The fake Sanni was arrested by policemen attached to Ketu Division. He was impersonating the younger brother to the Inspector General of Police. Incidentally the two of them bear the same name. The suspect’s name is Sanni Miletwelve Mohammed, while the real one is Sanni Miletwelve Abubakar. The fake one is from Kebbi, the real one from Zafara. They’re not related at all! We learnt that he had used this gimmick to defraud a lot of people of money.
“He would promise them that as the IG brother, he would talk to his brother about their case or matter in order to help them. Under this guise he had duped a lot of people. By tomorrow, he would be charged to court for impersonation. He had been doing this for over a year. In fact since Mohammed Abubakar became the IGP.”
The suspect was not just angry at being placed before journalists; he yelled at them that he was not going to speak with them. Fuming, he yelled: “We used to deal with journalists like you all at the barracks. But because I’m now a civilian you’re talking to me like this.”
But before his theatrics, he claimed that he had never collected money from anybody with his impersonation. He added that he was just doing it to gain, ‘respect.’
