MEN IN POLICE UNIFORM KILL FOREIGN NATIONALE


There was pandemonium in the early hours of Thursday in Daleko, Mushin area of Lagos when some unidentified gun men who were operating in police uniform opened fired and gunned down a foreigner.

The suspected gun men who stormed the area in a commercial bus popularly known as Danfo around 7 a.m. were said to have opened fire and killed the foreigner who was later identified as Santos Korie.

Santos, whose nationality is still sketchy as at press time, was said to have been shot while driving in his Toyota Highlander Jeep around Daleko Bridge.
 
 Eye witnesses’ account revealed that immediately the gun men opened fire at the jeep, they disappeared into thin air before policemen from Area D command could get to the scene.

It was however gathered that Santos, who sustained bullets wounds from the shots died while being rushed to the hospital.

While confirming the incident, the spokesperson Lagos State Police Command DSP Ngozi Braide stated that the command is yet to ascertain if the gun men were hired assassins or real police officers. She however added that some arrest have been made in connection to the incident
.
Her words: ‘some arrests have been made and the suspects are currently being detained at the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) for interrogation.’ She said.

 Braide stressed that the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Mr. Umar Manko has also ordered that the gun men must be fished out with a view to knowing their identities particularly as they were alleged to have operated in Police uniforms.

 Manko however appeal to members of the public especially the victim’s family to remain calm and embrace peace as the perpetrators of the dastardly act would be brought to book.

 It would be recalled that gunmen operating in military and police uniforms have been involved in one violent crime or the other in Lagos State in recent times.
