The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Prince Umar Manko, has ordered full investigation into the alleged shooting of a youngster at the Makinde area of Oshodi, Lagos State by a policeman.
The deceased, identified as Rafiu Adeniji, was said to have been shot dead by a policeman at the Agege area on Sunday, while two of his mates allegedly received bullet wounds.
Eye witnesses claimed that Adeniji was killed after a commercial bus he boarded from Agege to Oshodi hit a police patrol van, attached to the Rapid Response Squad "RRS" and a quarrel started between the bus driver and the patrol team.
An eyewitness said: "It was during the quarrel that the policeman for no reasons whatsoever, opened fire, shooting into the vehicle. The bullet hit Adeniji. Immediately the shooter realised he had shot and killed somebody, the team ran away.
"We rushed him to a nearby hospital and the hospital was demanding for police report. Before help could come, he gave up the ghost."
it was further gathered that when friends of Adeniji heard of his death, the mobilised and marched to the Makinde Police Station, chanting war songs. They were alleged to have tried to set the police station on fire, but policemen on duty, resisted the attack. The policemen shot sporadically into the air to scare youths.

Another eye witness claimed that during the sporadic shooting by the policemen, two other youths were shot at and injured. They were allegedly rushed to the hospital.
Policemen attached to the station, are however insisting that the killer cop, is not attached to Makinde Police Station. According to them, they could not understand why the youths choose to attack their station, when the incident happened at Agege.
The Deputy Police Public Relations Officer (DPPRO). Mr. Damasus Ozoani said he was only aware of the killing of a Passenger of a commercial bus who was believed to have been shot dead by a police man in a Patrol van. He said he had not being briefed on the shooting at Makinde.
He said that Manko had already ordered full investigation into the shooting, adding, "We want to know if the man was really shot by the police. If it is true, we want to find out who fired the shot and under what circumstances he fired the shot."
