We stab only stubborn ATM users –Teenagers

At an age when their mates were still burning the midnight candles, studying and writing examinations, two young boys have become suspected armed robbers.

The two boys, Ismaila Fatai, 15 and Sunday Atiye, 19, were arrested by detectives attached to the Lagos State Police Command.
The boys allegedly specialised in attacking people who go to ATM points, in the early hours of the money to cash money. The suspects were arrested around Lekki and Ajah axis. The teenagers said they were still reeling in shock over the manner police arrested them. According to them, they were at home, relaxing, when policemen, out of nowhere, burst into their home and arrested them.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Fatai Owoseni, said: “Two members of a robbery gang, Ismaila Fatai and Sunday Atiye, who specilaised in attacking and robbing ATM users of cash, phones and other valuables along Lekki and Ajah axis, were arrested. Their operational base is Angel Bar, Ajah.”
Fatai, a tricycle mechanic said he and his partner in crime, used to operate whenever they were returning from their club, located at Badore area, Ajah. Fatai explained that they were three-gang members, but their third partner, Ibrahim escaped. They both claimed that the elusive Ibrahim introduced them into robbery.
Fatai said: “We usually go to the club every Friday around 9:30 pm for relaxation and fun. We’ve never attacked anybody at the club. But we used to attack people between the hours of 3am and 4am. We sometimes used to attack people going to work, but we mostly target people who go to ATM galleries to cash money.”
The suspect continued: “I, Ibrahim and Sunday robbed a man who used the ATM gallery at Badore area, Ajah. We robbed him after he finished collecting his money at ATM point and was about to enter into his car. Ibrahim held him and we joined him.
We collected his phone and the sum of N5000 from him.” He confessed that the gang doesn’t used guns, but only hammer, dagger and machetes. He said they use the items to scare victims into cooperating with them. He said: “We used to attack people and force them to cooperate with us. Sometimes, the victims would want to shout to wake residents around that area.
We usually stab them if they try to be stubborn or shout.” Fatai said that after operation, he used to keep the hammer, dagger and machete at the roof of the house where he resides. He said: “After police arrested me, I took them to where I used to hide our instrument.”
Stating his own side of the story, Atiye said: “I got to know Ibrahim through Ismalia. We used to hang out as friends. It was Ibrahim who introduced us to robbery. We usually attack passersby, but we mostly hang around ATM galleries to attack people collecting money from the dispensing machine.”https://newtelegraphonline.com/stab-stubborn-atm-users-teenagers/
