The Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Ikeja, Lagos State Police Command arraigned three dismissed soldiers, a dismissed Air Force Officer, a final year student and three others for allegedly stealing solar panels and batteries belonging to Lagos State Government and MTN telecommunications.
The accused are Samuel Ani, Ifedayo Odufuye, Michael
Omerede,Chibuze Nnamani, Philip Emmanuel Efosa, ex-private Sulaimon Usman,
ex-private Olalekan Sunday and ex private Olafide Busayo. They were arraigned
at the Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on a four count charge bordering on armed
robbery and conspiracy.
Count one reads:
"That between 12th of December 2016 to 12th of September 2017, at
about 2am along Ibeju Lekki Express Way Okemagba ,Mojada area of Epe and
Badagry areas of Lagos in the Lagos magisterial district, did conspire among
yourselves to commit felony to wit armed robbery and thereby committed an
offence contrary to section 299 and punishable under section 292 of the
Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.”
Count two reads: " That you accused at about 2am
at the Sangotedo Elere along Ajah ,Epe Expressway Lagos in the Lagos magisterial
district whilst armed with gun did steal one hundred and twenty pieces of
backup batteries at two hundred and twelve thousand naira each value thirty two
million, six hundred and forty thousand naira. Sixty nine pieces of solar panel
batteries at one hundred and forty thousand naira, total value forty two
million, six hundred and ninety nine thousand
naira and property of IPT Power Tech /MTN telecommunications and thereby
punishable under section 297(2) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.”
