The Force Spokesman, Mr Jimoh Moshood,
a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) has been promoted to the rank of an Assistant
Commissioner of Police (ACP) by the Police Service Commission (PSC).
The Chairman of PSC, Sir Mike Okiro,
confirmed Moshood’s promotion. Reacting to his elevation, Moshood thanked the
Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr Ibrahim Idris and the PSC for considering
him for the promotion.
He said: “I promise to put my new
rank into good use by delivering better and quality services to Nigerians and
the police institution.”
The Political Science graduate from
Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State, was once the Police Public
Relations Officer (PPRO), Federal Capital Territory, Abuja Command.
During his tenure as image maker in
FCT, Moshood bagged a recommendation letters from the then FCT Commissioner of
Police, for diligent and excellent performances.
He has attended both local and
international courses, some of which are Crime Prevention of Korea Police, at Police
Training Institute, Seoul South Korea, Training Course on Anti-Hijacking
Techniques and Tactics for Developing Countries at Special Police Academy,
Beijing, China. Moshood is also a member of Africa Business School, Abuja and
Associate Fellow of Institute of Corporate Administration Of Nigeria
He has served in various capacities
in the Nigeria Police Force as DPO Central Area, Abuja between 2012 -2013 and CSP
in charge of Department of Finance and Administration, FCT Police Command,
Abuja among others. Until his appointment he was the Deputy Force
Public Relations Officer FHQ Abuja.
Before Moshood’s promotion was
announced, some senior police officers, retired and serving had advised Nigerians
to stop distracting policemen by peddling rumours against them.
These officers urged Nigerian
policemen to be more focused as they have serious security challenges to
tackle.
The warning followed allegations against
Okiro and Mr Abdulkarim Dauda, a Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) attached
to the presidency of negotiating promotion for Moshood.
One of the policemen, a retired
Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG), Mr Donald Iroham dismissed such
allegations against Moshood and Okiro.
He said: “Promotion is for the PSC
to decide. It is an internal thing between the PSC and the Police. If Jimoh is
qualified to be promoted and he is without any criminal records, why can't
he be promoted? The PSC should disregard detractors and do the needful if it
deems it fit to promote him to the next rank to suit the office he is
occupying.
“I don't know why people should
distract the police who are having many security challenges to contend with.
The PSC and the Police should disregard certain comments and move forward
.Jimoh as far as I’m concerned was not indicted for lobbying, so nothing
stops the PSC from promoting him.”
He advised Moshood not to be
distracted as the office of FPRO was not a tea-party.
"He should be focused and be
diligent in his duties and make the force proud. There is nothing wrong if a
superior officer saw something good in you and you are really qualified and
made case for you,” said Iroham.
